Building heat to plague Tour de France racers, spectators through midweek
After a cool and damp start, hotter and dry weather will plague racers and spectators at the The 104th edition of the Tour de France through midweek.
While temperatures during the beginning of the week were relatively comfortable, a ridge of high pressure across eastern France will lead to building heat through the weekend.
Stage 5 will take place on Wednesday from Vittel to La Planche des Belles Filles with temperature highs close to 31 C (87 F) at both locations.

The average high during the beginning of June for the region is near 22 C (73 F).
While rain-free weather is expected to continue, more humid conditions will build in and make the day feel especially stifling.
Dry weather will prevail through the first half of the week, but conditions will turn more unsettled by Thursday and Friday. An area of low pressure is expected to lead to several days of showers and thunderstorms.
The rain will help to lower temperatures by early next week.
