Word on the Gulf System
UPDATE 7 PM (Joe Bastardi):The data buoy southeast of Corpus Christi is getting a rather rapid pressure fall with a wind strong out of the east southeast. This could be the mid level center trying to pull in the low level center. The buoy Joe is referring to is 42020, which fell from 29.90 to 29.81 between 18Z and 20Z.

Some of you have been bugging me, for good reason, to talk a little about the Gulf system. We've all seen the intense clouds and heavy rain there over the last 24 hours. It looked like to me on the that the low-level circulation in NE Mexico was decimated late in the morning by a thunderstorm outflow boundary. The visible sat is too cluttered now to tell what's going on, as is the radar (be it Extended Reflectivity or Composite Reflectivity), and the latest surface plot from NOAA (see bottom of this entry) is inconclusive.
