Wilmington, NC Floods (Again)

During Hurricane Ophelia, my cousin who lives in Wilmington North Carolina sent in a photo of branches down in her yard (see about halfway down this page) , just before a tree came through the roof.

Today she sent the photos below, showing her flooded yard.

When reading the flood reports and rainfall amounts I posted earlier, I saw many familiar names... WILMINGTON: 7.54 inches... CASTLE HAYNE: 7 inches... SOUTHPORT: 5.65 inches...

Just three weeks ago, southeast North Carolina (where I have spent many a summer) received the worst from Hurricane Ophelia, with over 15 inches of rain falling.

Today, The Wilmington Star has a great article and photo, WECT has a video report and photos of the flooding in the Wilmington area. WWAY-TV also has a report.

Both Brunswick and New Hanover counties, as well as the city of Wilmington, have declared emergencies.
