What can only be described as a "heck of a Spring storm" is affecting the West Coast this weekend and will move on to the Plains early next week, bringing with it...

- Feet of snow to California today, then the Northern Plains tomorrow- High Winds in excess of 40 mph in the Southwest causing Fire Danger- Winds in excess of 65 mph over a wider area, causing blowing dust- Flooding risk from heavy rain and snow melt over the Northern Plains- Severe thunderstorms in the Plains Monday and Tuesday

You can experience all this vicariously through our Headlines at right; I'm here to bring you the reports of what happens. So far as of 9 AM Western time (compiled from NWS Local Storm Reports):

- In Monroe, Washington, a tree fell on a car, killing the woman inside - Roads are underwater in Morton County, North Dakota - 18 inches of snow at Soda Springs, California - 16 inches of snow at Washoe, Nevada

Wind gusts so far over 70 mph:

Mammoth Mountain, CA: 116 mphWhite Mountain, CA: 78 mphSnowbasin, UT: 73 mphBrighton, UT: 72 mphSolitude, UT: 71 mph
