Science Gadget Reviews From Scientifics.com!
When I was a kid (in the 1980s), my father was an amateur astronomer and I was already into weather. As such, I waited with baited breath for the Edmund Scientifics catalog to come to my mailbox each month.

They're still here, but now they are called "Scientifics Direct" and they have a sea of scientific devices and gadgets that I could only dream of as a kid! Here's what they delivered:
(On Sale This Week!) This is a very unique weather forecasting product -- something I had never seen.

It combines the classic Galileo Thermometer with what's called a "Storm Glass Barometer." The science is a little hazy but their website says: "The Storm Glass Barometer came into general use in the early 1700's. Sailor's attached this instrument to the mast of their ships and bu interpretation of the constantly changing crystal formations, relied upon it to forecast good weather and forboding conditions at sea."
Serenade - Dual Crystal Solar Symphony Rainbow Maker (On Sale This Week!) : When I was a kid, I thought prisms (which break light into the colors of the rainbow) were magic. This gadget breaks the mold.

My whole family was really impressed with the Serenade. It's a set of multi-faceted crystals that serve as prisms to create dozens of moving rainbows all over the inside of your house! Here's a video of the Serenade in my house. (Note: You need strong, direct sunlight to get the solar panel to turn the gears).
Here are some additional reviews of Scientifics products, by Storm Chaser Ron Shawley, who helps me review science-related gadgets:
Celestron NexStar 4SE Telescope:
Telescopes have come a long way since the "ziggy" my father had in the 1980s. Now, you can easily jump to any of 40,000 objects in the telescope's database with 200 user-definable objects! It includes a camera control feature that allows you to remotely take a series of timed exposures using your DSLR camera! Too much fun.
