PA Flooding, Wind Damage Video
There was significant flooding in Pennsylvania during the heavy rain today. Right after I wrote the November Rain blog entry, my wife called to tell me that College Avenue was under water at the Jeep dealer (a small creek there flash floods easily during heavy rain events). I was stuck in a meeting and by the time I got to it, the water was out of the road, but still in the parking lot of the Jeep dealer and lumber store.
Minor wind damage also occurred, mainly to signage. I shot some video of both the wind and the flooding (you can see the situation described above at the end of the video -- hard to tell but everything you see to your right is under water).

Wind speeds were high in localized areas as you can see below:
Highest Wind Reports:
AccuWeather Roof: 43 mph
My House: 37 mph
UNV Airport: 32 mph
Tussey Mountain: 28 mph
Penn State ASOS: 22 mph
Penn State Walker Building Roof: 20 mph
Some reports were obtained through the Pennsylvania State Climatologist Office.
Many creeks and rivers in the Northeast are swollen after yesterday's rain (see USGS map at right) and there is a Flood Warning in effect for a few rivers here in Centre county as runoff triggers minor flooding. Our local creek (Spring Creek / Houserville) which has been well under normal flow due to a drought, spiked up today from 3.5 to 6.0 feet. Some rivers such as the West Branch Susquehanna at Lewisburg will near flood stage Wednesday.
