New Ice Storm Amounts, Comparison, Videos
Live Plains Radar (PREMIUM | PRO)
It was already a mess out in the Plains yesterday afternoon. Now another ice storm is whipping through the area this Tuesday morning. As of 6 AM Central Time, the AccuWeather.com Snow/Ice/Rain radar showed ice from Kansas to Michigan, as did ground-truth observation maps for the Plains and Midwest. (Those maps, taken from official airport observations, show "ZR" for freezing rain, "UP" for Unknown Precip [JessePedia] and "S" for Snow).
But here's a question: How similar will the track of today's ice storm be to the previous one? Some in the media is hyping that it is in "the same place." I'll take a closer look at this later today.
The following amounts of ice (freezing rain) have been reported to the NWS between yesterday evening and 6 AM Central Time. This list will be updated later this morning.

Hundreds of thousands are without power from Oklahoma through Missouri and IllinoisThe storm Sunday into Monday has been called "the worst in our history" by Oklahoma Power Company OEG. Below is video from our ABCNewsOne affliates detailing the ice and destruction in Oklahoma and Missouri, and photos from the Associated Press. (If you watch nothing else, watch the last 20 seconds of this video and watch a kid being interviewed dive for cover from falling branches and watch a salt truck slide off the road).
