New Forecast Feature Illustrates NE Cold
Another frosty May night is in store for the Northeast. Here in State College, PA, the forecast says:
This is a neat little thing that we are doing now on AccuWeather.com - we'll tell you in the actual forecast if we expect near record-breaking conditions (see it in the Forecast Details page for 16801, or see our Premium or Pro sites).
The fact that we are approaching a record indicates that this weather is unusual. But frost is also expected over much of the Northeast.
How unusual is that? Well, if you take a look at a map showing the average date of the last frost in Spring, you can see that this frost will come 1-3 weeks after those average dates, with the exception of the upper peninsula of Michigan, which routinely sees frost up around June 1st.
