NE Ice Storm and NW Flooding Update
UPDATE (8 PM): Flooding is becoming widespread in the Northwest and I have added half a dozen videos to the Raw Video Player (at right.)
I now believe the NWS's 1.7" report of freezing rain from MA to be false (see below), since nothing close to that has been reported. Here is a list of the highest ice amounts per state (some of which are pretty impressive if they are all freezing rain):
Yorktown Heights, NY: 0.8" Awosting, NJ: 0.8" Waterbury, CT: 0.8" Multiple Locations, PA: 0.5" Oxford, MA: 0.3" Lucketts, VA: 0.25" Multiple Locations, WV: 0.25" Multiple Locations, MD: 0.25"
I still can't get a handle on power outages and there isn't much news about them. It's possible there was enough sleet mixing in that we're not going to get widespread power outage reports.
UPDATE (1 PM): Up to half an inch of ice has been reported in Connecticut and Pennsylvania. The only NWS reports out of Massachusetts so far say wires and trees down, but say there has been "0.00" inches of ice there. A number of good photos have come into our Gallery from readers like you, and the folks on the Forums are talking up a storm. Here is a photo by missmarisa showing 0.4" of ice in New Jersey:

I have also uploaded some photos of the ice at AccuWeather HQ this morning:

Here's a status this morning on the two major weather stories that I talked about Monday.
1. The Northeast Ice Storm: With one possible major exception (see below), much of the "ice" turned out to be sleet instead of freezing rain, so many areas may have dodged the bullet as far as a major ice storm with power outages. The NWS reports indicate 0.3" or less of ice in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and New Jersey.
