Lightning Causes OK Plant Explosion
A lightning strike [Google Map] caused a large oil storage barrel to explode Friday around noon. I can confirm this based on the lightning and radar data from yesterday.
Above is a 2-hour lightning strike image from AccuWeather.com Premium (Wynnewood is south of OKC). Lightning strike data is provided by USPLN.
You can see the radar image from 11:55 AM ("just before noon") below. As you can see, the town was on the edge of a storm moving east at that time. Wynnewood was actually hit by 4 or 5 different thunderstorms if you look at the downloadable radar loop.
