INT: Lightning: 69 Killed in India, More

A total of 69 people from seventeen different locations in India were killed by lightning in the past few days, The Times of India reports. The lightning comes from Monsoon rains and villagers have been asked to refrain from being outside during the storms.

Other "lightning havoc" tidbits from this week's newspapers across the U.S.:

Lightning hit the highway between Denver and Boulder Wednesday blew an 18x8" crater in the road, damaging vehicles with shards of asphalt and killing a motorcyclist ()

A landfill was set afire by lightning on fire Wednesday night in Florida ()

Dick's Picadilly, a popular restaurant in Shepherd, Michigan, was leveled by a fire Wednesday and lightning is the prime suspect ()

Lightning started two fires in Lima, Ohio Wednesday morning ()
