Friday Tornadoes and Today`s
Five tornadoes were reported yesterday evening in Texas and Kansas (map). Below are radar images from near the time of this report: "Near Ensign, Kansas: CHASER REPORTED TORNADO ON GROUND FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES." A blog reader pointed out that some storms were really trucking -- one at 80 mph, according to the NWS.

Today's storms will be concentrated in the Southeastern US, with the biggest threat coming tonight over the Lower Mississippi Valley. The SPC [JessePedia] says "THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO INTENSIFY THROUGH THE MORNING OVER EAST TEXAS AND SPREAD EASTWARD INTO PARTS OF ARKANSAS/LOUISIANA DURING THE AFTERNOON...AND INTO MISSISSIPPI DURING THE EVENING."
