Florida Fires Get Rain, But Lightning Too

The state of Florida is being doused today by a line of thunderstorms which is bringing much-needed rainfall to the state -- not enough rainfall to ease their drought, but enough that it might aid in firefighting.

However, these storms brought lightning strikes to the state, which could start additional fires. Over 650 lightning strikes were detected by AccuWeather.com LightningPlus between 9:30 and 11:30 Eastern time (see map at right or super-mega-blowup map).
