Extreme Cold to Hit NE Friday
UPDATE: The NWS website is back up now and here are their (equally dire) predictions:
ORIGINAL POST: I just took a look at the forecast for Friday here in State College.
That's right, it won't feel any better than -9 F on Friday. Winds will gust to 45 mph with snow showers. Yikes. The high (and low) of 16 are both below the normal low temperature for the date, and also much colder than that day last year.
Here's a list of other maximum temperatures that we're predicting in the Northeast Friday:
Baltimore: 27 (RealFeel 5)
New York: 24 (RealFeel 7)
Pittsburgh: 17 (RealFeel -5)
Albany: 14 (RealFeel -13)
Ironically, I'll be enjoying sunny skies and nearly 50 degrees on my business trip to Wichita Friday.
The NWS [JessePedia] website was not responding as of the time of this writing so I couldn't gauge their take on this cold outbreak. Certainly this is the outbreak that the GFS has been promising us for a week and a half now.
