Dreary But Snow Drought in NE This Thanksgiving 2009
UPDATE: 7:30 PM: An hour ago I had a 5-minute deluge of heavy rain and what I assume was small hail I (due to convective nature of precip, though temp is 46 degrees (falling quickly to 42 since the event) here so you would normally think sleet, of course both can happen at the same time here in the winter as proved earlier this year). There's a new one for Thanksgiving! Check out photo and radar shots on our Forums.
Happy Thanksgiving! As always, you can check out Elliot's Special Thanksgiving Message in video format (on Facebook this year!).

Here in State College, Pennsylvania, home of AccuWeather HQ it looks like it will be a fairly benign Thanksgiving weather-wise (compared to 2005, 2006 and 2007 which were notable) though there is a chance of snow here tonight.

Thanksgiving Day 2009 Forecast
As I opined over the weekend, it's been a dreary week here in Central PA. In fact, since then, it's continued to be cloudy and cold, with fog, rain, and drizzle for the past three days. Only one 3-hour period was less than mostly cloudy since last Saturday and for the most part, we haven't seen the sunshine for over a week (November 17th was our last day that was more clear than cloudy). The temperature has been steady in the 40s for much of the time; 30 at worst and 50 at best as you can see from the 1-week graph from my home weather station below:

In other news, the Northeast is suffering from a bit of a snow drought. Although Central PA and parts of southern New York saw a localized heavy snow in mid-October, things have been pretty quiet since then, and most of western (and eastern for that matter) Pennsylvania and most of New York state have been snowless thus far this season.
Brian Neudoff wrote in his blog Tuesday:
The NWS in Buffalo also said yesterday that the "days since" stats are the same for Buffalo and added for Buffalo:
We also did a story about the late ski season in the Midwest and Northeast, saying "Major Vermont and Central Minnesota ski resorts report mild weather and no snow up to this point. Sunny conditions and 50-degree temperatures have prevented snowmaking capabilities."
