Stay tuned tomorrow for Part 2, where I'll show incredible photos and stories from the Western United States which has also been... Buried By Snow.
SCRIPT: In a winter like this, there are snowblowers. And then... there are snowblowers... and snowbanks to match. In fact, Montreal's seen so much snow this winter, its dumps are full. This is the new overflow dumping ground. Now two kilometres long... and it too is filling up fast. "15 YEARS ON THE THE JOB AND I'VE NEVER SEEN A WINTER LIKE THAT"
It's the same story across the province... where the burden for some is almost too much to bear. ...and too heavy for some homes. On this street in Quebec City, the snow's piled so high, Stephane Plante noticed his children were playing perilously close to the power lines. I'm afraid they'll get electrocuted, he says.
He just happens to be a sign maker... and so he's posted a clear warning. And asked the city to stop blowing snow onto his yard. But Quebec City's dump piled so high, parts of it had to be shut down. After an avalanche on this man-made mountain, buried several dumptrucks. Right now, for a change, it's actually mild out...yet no matter how warm it gets, city workers don't expect this to melt away....until long after winter is gone.
At least by then the streets will be cleared... and that's the only prediction anyone's willing to make... in a winter like this.
