Hot July for Much of Europe
Above-normal warmth prevailed across much of Europe during the month of July.
Across the United Kingdom and Ireland, temperatures averaged 2-6 degrees Fahrenheit above normal making for a sultry July in most locations. London, for example, reached 80 F (26.7 C) 15 days through July 28, including 12 days in a row.
Some all-time high temperatures were set across Scandinavia where temperatures averaged an amazing 4-10 F above normal. Bergen, in southwest Norway, averaged 10.3 F above normal for the month.
Other major cities have experienced extreme warmth this month include Berlin, Germany, +6.0 F; Warsaw, Poland, +4.2 F; Kiev, Ukraine, +6.3; Amsterdam, Netherlands, +4.0; Hamburg, Germany, 6.6 F; and Copenhagen, Denmark, 6.4 F.
