NASA's data for May 2022 indicates that the average global surface temperature was 0.82 C. 1.48 F, above the 1951-1980 average. This makes last month tied for the sixth warmest May on record.

Based on the first five months, 2022 is currently on pace to rank in the top five warmest years on record, which you would not normally expect during a La Niña because it normally has a slight cooling influence on the global temperature average.
