What's Ahead Next Week
At least for one day the models are pretty much in agreement for the first time for next week. Hopefully that will continue.
The upper-level trough moving through southern California Monday can still cause a shower in spots and Monday will be the chilliest day with a cold night Monday night. Rain and snow showers over Arizona Monday will gradually end from west to east Tuesday. Expect some snow accumulation in the mountains of Arizona. Periods of snow in the Wasatch range Monday will taper to a few snow showers Tuesday with a few snow showers in the valleys north and a rain shower south.
Much the rest of next week looks dry for California and the Southwest. There are differences in the models in how much it warms, but the differences are minor.
In the Northwest, scattered showers of rain and snow are likely with snow levels 1,500 to 2,500 feet north to south. Precipitation amounts will be light, but do expect some light accumulation of snow in the mountains that will be welcomed by the ski areas. Even later next week, there still will be a shower of rain and snow in Washington and parts of Oregon into Idaho with more north and west than southwest. Again, nothing big is expected. There will be arctic air move south out of western Canada Tuesday and Tuesday night into Montana and northern Wyoming and cause some accumulating snow especially on the east side of the Rockies. This arctic air is right now does not look like it has enough pus to get over the Continental Divide.
