Worst of winter's cold may be in the rearview mirror for much of the population

Signs continue to point to a quick retreat of the bitterly cold air mass that has impacted much of the central United States and western Canada.
While there will still be some cold weeks, especially in the Rockies, the real bitter cold is likely to be forced back up into the high latitudes into March.
The East looks unsettled into March but not all that cold, so we will likely be dealing with an assortment of mixed snow, ice and rain events.
