Long-range weather pattern update
By Brett Anderson, AccuWeather senior meteorologist

The stormy pattern across British Columbia will persist through the weekend and into the first half of next week, then it looks like a break in the pattern starting around Feb. 7 with near-normal to below-normal precipitation into mid-February.
In the East, the potential storm we have been monitoring for this weekend along the East Coast is looking less impressive for the Northeast U.S., but there is still an opportunity for this to strengthen south of Nova Scotia later in the weekend and possibly bring significant snow to portions of Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick and then into Newfoundland.
There may be more opportunities for significant snowfall from Quebec to Atlantic Canada during February with a favorable jet stream pattern.
A colder pattern sets up across a large portion of Canada during February, but not too extreme by winter standards.
