Multiple rounds of snow will occur in the Chicago area this week. One storm and it's snow will depart on Wednesday evening, but heavy lake-effect snow will unfold near the Indiana border and through northwest Indiana with blizzard conditions and difficult to dangerous travel. Some locations will pick up 12-18 inches of snow and perhaps a bit more. Following this event, another round of snow is forecast to fall around the Chicago metro area from Thursday night to Friday evening with slippery roads and airline delays due to deicing operations. Off-and-on snow is forecast over the weekend with additional accumulation.
