A rapidly strengthening storm will bring heavy snow to eastern Long Island, New York, and Cape Cod, Massachusetts, with a blizzard possible later this weekend. The five boroughs of New York City will be barely on the northwest flank of the storm with a coating to an inch accumulation forecast, beginning very late Saturday night and lasting into Sunday. Up to a few inches of snow may fall on central and eastern Long Island and along the southern Atlantic Coast of New jersey. A storm that hugs the mid-Atlantic coast could bring heavier snow to the city, while a storm that drifts farther east may cause no snow to accumulate. Strong winds near the coast, combined with high astronomical tides, will lead to moderate coastal flooding.
