Multiple weather conditions play into whether it's a good or bad day to fish. The amount and intensity of precipitation affect how fish feed. The differences between air and water temperature affect the tendency of fish to bite often. By tracking weather conditions, you'll increase the chances of getting a catch.

Safety Tips
Fish are most active during dawn and dusk hours. Pay attention to weather fronts coming through as fish tend to feed most right before a cold front and in the middle of a warm front. Light rain is beneficial for fishing as it stirs up surface food, while heavy rain leads to less active fish.
  • Avoid fishing when there is heavy precipitation.
  • Fish early in the morning or during dusk.
  • Fish right before a cold front comes through, or during a warm front as these are when fish tend to feed more often.
  • Clouds can prevent light penetration in the water, leading fish to look for more food instead of hiding.
