A storm will gather a vast zone of snow and ice over the south-central United States Friday. During the weekend, around the same time Arctic air moves in, snow is forecast to overspread the Baltimore area Saturday night and continue heavy at times into Sunday night. There is the potential for a very heavy accumulation of snow, with widespread travel problems, even if sleet and freezing rain mix in for a time. Travel conditions will rapidly deteriorate Saturday night and are likely to be difficult to impossible on Sunday.
