An unsettled pattern that has brought rounds of rain and gusty winds to the United Kingdom will come to end by the middle of next week after one more opportunity for damaging wind gusts.
A storm system that moved through southern England on Sunday spread occasional downpours to the rest of the British Isles to end the weekend.
Winds were not a major concern as this storm passed with gusts only reaching up to 20-30 mph (32-48 km/h).
The threat for strong winds will increase during the beginning of the week as one more storm in the parade over northwestern Europe will follow quickly behind.
On Monday, this second storm will move just north of Scotland. Here, it will produce outbreaks of rain with snow expected in the higher elevations of the Highlands.
The storm will then slide south along the eastern coast of the U.K. on Tuesday and spread scattered showers farther south to southern Scotland, northern England, northern Wales and Northern Ireland.
Outside of the odd shower, the rest of the region is expected to remain largely dry.

Winds are expected to be stronger with this storm, especially across Scotland, northern England, the Midlands, Northern Ireland and northern Wales.
"This system is likely to bring damaging wind gusts of 50-60 mph (80-97 kph) through Tuesday," stated AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
The strongest winds are forecast for northern- and western-facing coasts where an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 70 mph (113 kph) is possible. Gusts of this speed can lead to coastal flooding in these areas.
"Strong wind gusts can lead to downed trees, power cuts and road closures," Roys added.
This storm will also usher in a cooler air mass as afternoon temperatures are expected to trend a couple degrees lower through the beginning of the week.
This storm will then move into central Europe into the middle of the week, spreading rain that could mix with or change over to snow across parts of the region.
An area of high pressure is forecast to build over the United Kingdom into the second half of next week and dry conditions will return once again.
This break in the stormy pattern is not expected to last long as forecasters anticipate unsettled conditions to return by late in the week and into the weekend.
