Collaboration brings seamless, weather-centric extension to Google Chrome users

AccuWeather Global Weather Center, June 17, 2020 — Global weather and digital media leader AccuWeather today announced it has integrated its weather forecast insights into a Google Chrome extension developed by platform experts Mocha, of Mocha Global, a holding company focused on privacy-first initiatives.

With the extension, users can now visit the Google Chrome Web Store  and search for the free “Weather Forecast powered by AccuWeather extension.” After selecting the extension and adding it to Chrome, the browser will provide a prompt to install.  When users open a new window in their browser, they will be asked for location to provide hyper-local weather forecasts. At the top left corner of the browser page, a user can add multiple locations by simply searching for a specific town, state or zip code.

“We are excited to bring our world-class weather insights with proven Superior Accuracy to this partnership opportunity with Mocha, to power the first-ever AccuWeather Google Chrome Extension,” said AccuWeather Senior Vice President of Business Development, Paul Lentz. “This innovative extension, modeled with an elegant, intuitive design, opens another avenue for our users to receive the most accurate, up-to-the minute weather forecasts on a hyper-local scale.”

“We're delighted to partner with AccuWeather to enable the most accurate weather data and information related to Covid-19 all in one place and at a point in world history when it is needed most,” said Jonathan Kim, President of Mocha.

The exclusive, patented AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperature is also displayed under the search bar, positioned below a four-day outlook. At the top right, a user has the option to personalize his or her weather dashboard by adding insights that provide a color-graded rating (Green = Good, Yellow = Moderate and Red = Bad), for weather-related activities such as skiing, running, driving, and even respiratory air quality. For a full weather forecast, users can select a specific forecast day, which will bring them directly to www.accuweather.com.

Also included below the local weather forecast is a link to AccuWeather’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) Tracker Map. This new digital mapping tool and landing page is available on mobile and desktop platforms as part of an effort to provide users with the most accurate updates and information regarding the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
