Due to recent rainfall and to further rain expected this evening and all day tomorrow Saturday 20/09/2025, river levels are forecast to rise and may lead to flooding of low-lying land. Further rainfall is expected throughout the weekend. Areas most at risk include River Eden and other watercourses, from Kirkby Stephen to Temple Sowerby including low lying areas around Brough, Warcop, Great Ormside and Appleby. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Refer to local authority website for road closures. We are closely monitoring rainfall and river levels, clearing debris from weed screens and closing locks and floodgates where needed. This message will be updated by 10:00 AM tomorrow morning Saturday 20/09/2025, or as the situation changes.
