...HIGH SURF ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM CHST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet. * WHERE...North facing reefs of Pohnpei and Kosrae. * WHEN...Until 3 PM ChST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A long-period northerly swell is interacting with the northeast swell to support hazardous surf of 9 feet along north facing reefs of Pohnpei and Kosrae. Buoy data from Pohnpei and Kosrae suggest surf of 8 feet is no longer supported along east facing reefs at Kosrae at this time. While surf may briefly drop below 9 feet along north facing reefs tonight or early Monday morning, another pulse of northerly swell is being generated by strong winds well north of the region and will arrive around Monday night. This swell should cause surf to rebuild to at least 9 feet along north facing reefs. Depending how long the north swell lingers the advisory may be extended past Tuesday afternoon. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. &&
