If you find yourself catching a sunburn, here are some tips on how you can treat it.

Having sunburned skin can be a common symptom for people who spend a lot of time outdoors. One of the most common times of the year for people to receive a sunburn is during the summer.

The summer season is the time when the heat from the sun is felt the most. Its ultraviolet rays are more likely to cause sunburns. If you happen to be one of the unfortunate people to receive a sunburn, find out in this article how to treat and soothe sunburns as well as learning how to prevent them.

Why sunburns occur

One of the main reasons why sunburns happen is due to the lack of planning when it comes to their local weather. This is why summer is notorious for giving people sunburns. Summer season means spending lots of time outdoors at barbeques, beaches, pools, and parks, all while soaking up the sun’s rays.

It's also a possibility that many people aren't aware you can receive a sunburn during the winter or in cloudy conditions. Invisible ultraviolet light is still prevalent during the colder months, and cloud cover is not guaranteed protection against the sun. This is why checking forecasts and proper planning is essential in preventing sunburns.

Best remedies to soothe sunburns

In this section, you'll learn about the right treatment for sunburned skin and what they can do for you.

Aloe Vera

First on the list is a natural home remedy that is highly recommended treatment to combat sunburned skin. Aloe Vera, which is widely known for hydrating skin, contains natural anti-inflammatory properties that help to provide pain relief from sunburns.

You can extract the gel from an actual Aloe Vera plant, or you can find Aloe Vera in the store. Apply it to your skin as needed to help soothe your sunburns.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Have a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar in the fridge? Well, you may be surprised to learn that it's a great way to find relief for sunburned skin.

The vinegar is useful for sunburns due to its natural ability to balance pH levels in the skin. The acetic acid in Apple Cider Vinegar decreases inflammation and relieves irritation. All you need to do is add some Apple Cider Vinegar and water to a spray bottle and spray it on your skin. Let it dry and apply it again every few hours or so.

Tips to prevent sunburns from happening

One of the best ways to prevent yourself from getting sunburned is to check and plan around your local weather. Since the weather is the main factor for receiving a sunburn, it makes sense to plan around it.

If the weather calls for high heat conditions and no clouds, it's best to cover up appropriately and carry sunscreen with you. Hats, long sleeves, and anything else to cover any area that can be exposed to the sun is recommended.

Checking forecasts and staying informed of what your local weather will be for the week can help prevent you from getting a sunburn if you are prepared.
