In 2010, a tornado hit the Bronx, N.Y., for the first time in 36 years, injuring seven. The National Weather Service (NWS) classified the tornado as EF-1, with winds around 100 mph. The 2010 Bronx tornado was only the second tornado to hit the borough ever. Bronx's first reported tornado hit on Sept. 2, 1974.
