Quiet through early next week; another potent storm late week

The weekend ends with a storm moving away from the East Coast and high pressure bringing quiet weather to areas farther west. We will remain quiet until midweek. After that, another potent storm system will take shape over the eastern part of the nation and bring another soaking to parts of the Southeast that doesn't need any more rain. Once again, parts of Florida will have a limited severe storm risk, and this may extend northward along the East Coast. Colder air coming in behind the storm will lead to some areas having some snow Thursday into Friday on the back side of the storm. Relative quiet returns for a few days behind this storm.

A generally quiet regime will be in place until Wednesday, even though sunshine will be limited in many places by high clouds streaming in from the Pacific. Things change at midweek as a new storm system takes shape...
