Fewer storms and more heat the next few days

The weather is settling down over the eastern part of the country, including the Southeast, as an upper trough, that has led to a lot of rain in recent days, is lifting out. The result will be less rain and more heat through the first half of next week in the Southeast. Areas west of the Mississippi look hot and mostly dry, with some exceptions. Around the middle of next week, we'll have another upper trough develop over the eastern part of the nation. This supports another front pushing well to the south that will become stationary by late in the week. That will cool it down and make it more active again. But, this time, the setup won't be as supportive of heavy rain. Some will have soaking downpours, but it won't be as widespread this time.
