Q: Why am I receiving so many notifications/alerts for locations that are not my current location?
When a location is set as a 'Favorite', the application automatically turns on alerts for that location.
To enable or disable notifications, press the Settings Menu on the top left (3 horizontal lines), then select ‘Settings’. Under ‘Manage Notifications’, toggle Government Issued Alerts ‘on’ or ‘off,’ or select 'Locations' to toggle off locations separately.
Q: Why am I receiving duplicate notifications (for the same location)?
We are aware of the problem you are experiencing with receiving duplicate notifications and are actively working toward a solution.
If you'd like to disable notifications in the meantime, press the Settings Menu on the top left (3 horizontal lines), then select ‘Settings’. Under ‘Manage Notifications’, toggle Government Issued Alerts to ‘off.’
As new updates are released, be sure to install the most recent version of the application or enable automatic updates for the latest from AccuWeather.
Q: Why don’t I see my widget?
Our widgets have been overhauled with the new version. You'll need to delete the previous widget and add it back to your home screen manually, then, choose your location. From there, you can resize the widget to your preference.
Q: Why can’t I make my widget transparent?
Our widgets have been overhauled in the most recent release. We will be introducing transparency and customizations soon, but please make sure to install any new versions of the application when they are released.
Q: Why am I receiving an error on my widget, or, it won’t display?
While we are aware of the problem you are experiencing with the widget and are actively working toward a solution, please try uninstalling/reinstalling the application or rebooting the device. If that does not work, please reach out to support@accuweather.com for further guidance.
In the meantime, please install any new versions of the application when they are released.
Q: How can I add the Temperature in the Notification Bar?
Adding the temperature within the notification bar is easy to do. Simply follow the steps on the pathway below:
Go to Device Settings > Apps > AccuWeather > Permissions > Notifications > and toggle Persistent Notification Updates to the ON position.
Q: Where is Dark/Black Mode?
To view the application in Dark or Black mode, press the Settings Menu on the top left (3 horizontal lines), then select ‘Settings’. Under ‘Display Mode’, select your preferred mode.
Q. What are the differences between Light/Dark/Black mode?
Light Mode is the default display for your AccuWeather app. This gives you 48 custom, beautiful real-time weather backgrounds that allow you to experience the weather outside, whatever the conditions may be.
Dark Mode is a dimmer setting that retains the real-time weather backgrounds simulating all weather conditions. Secondary screens across the app are now darker to match the operating system’s dark mode.
Black Mode is the darkest setting, for a high contrast view of the app in an all-black background. This setting removes the real-time weather backgrounds and helps to reduce eye strain.
Q: Will my paid status transfer to the new application?
Your paid status should transfer to the updated application. If you’re not seeing ads, and you’re able to view 72 hours of forecasted data and 45 day forecast, then the paid upgrade was successful.
Q: How do I add a location?
To add a new location, press on the location name that is currently being viewed on the home screen. Once on the Locations page, enter your new location in the search bar and press ‘Search’. Select your desired location and enjoy a hyperlocal, up to the minute forecast at your fingertips.
Q: How do I set a favorite location?
On the “Locations” page, three categories of locations will be listed - Current, Favorites, and Recent. To add a location to Favorites, tap on the + to the right of a Recent location.
Q: How do I remove a location from Favorites?
To remove or reorder your Favorite locations, tap on the current location, and click ‘Edit’ to the right of Favorites. Press and hold the 3 horizontal lines, while dragging the location, to reorder locations. Press the - to remove a location.

Q. What is the RealFeel® and is that different from the temperature?
The ‘RealFeel®’ reading is placed under the more prominent temperature within your MinuteCast dial. The RealFeel considers elements like humidity and windchill to give you the most accurate, realistic understanding of how warm or cold it feels outside, essential for adventures big or small.
Q. What is the RealFeel Shade®?
Similar to the RealFeel®, the RealFeel Shade® tells you what the temperature feels like when in a covered, shady area.
Q: Where can I find Humidity?
Humidity information can be located on the home screen under ‘Current Conditions’ or on the Hourly screen by selecting each hour.
Q. Where can I find the UV Index?
The UV Index can also be found on the ‘Hourly’ screen by selecting each individual hour. That will prompt a full view of the day’s conditions, including your UV index.
Q. How far ahead does the forecast look and how can I see a 5-day, weekly or monthly outlook?
Select the ‘Daily’ screen to bring up your 15 day forecast. At the top of the page you may also choose ‘By Month’ for a 45 day outlook. Stay prepared, days in advance.
Q: My radar is slow or not functioning properly.
If your device is connected to the internet/wifi, please check your connection. A slow connection could impact the radar performance.
Q. How do I change the radar mapping layers and what do each of the options do?
After selecting the ‘Radar’ at the bottom of your screen, a doppler radar view will appear with an animated play button that lets you look two hours ahead. To change your mapping layer, simply select the dropdown arrow at the top of your screen to view all mapping layer options and descriptions of each.
Q: How do I change the Units/Wind Direction/Time Format?
To change the Units, Wind Direction or Time Format, press the Settings Menu on the top left (3 horizontal lines), then select ‘Settings’. From there, enjoy a variety of options to personalize your weather experience.
Q. Does the MinuteCast® wheel turn, or is it stationary? How do I read that?
We love the MinuteCast® and the redesign makes it even more user-friendly! Designed as a clock, you will see your exact time at the top, moving clockwise, every 15 minutes to complete a full hour. The color-coded key below the dial will show you what to type of weather you can expect. Clicking the center of the MinuteCast dial will bring you to a page where you can scroll minute-by-minute through the next two hours.
