AccuWeather 2019 Germany spring forecast
The spring season is set to be a wild ride across Germany as a wide variety of weather is forecast in the coming months.
Cold blasts, spells of warmth, flooding rain and the risk for drought are all possible across Germany this spring.
Anyone hoping for a mild spring will want to head to southwestern Germany as the most frequent warmth is expected from Frankfurt to Stuttgart.

Multiple stretches of 20-degree Celsius warmth are possible across the region during the month of April with continued warm spells in May.
Above-normal temperatures are also forecast in northwest Germany; however, the biggest story for Hamburg, Bremen, Hanover and Dortmund will be the frequent rounds of rain and occasional risk for locally damaging winds.
“The dominant storm track for much of the spring will feature storm systems tracking from the British Isles to Scandinavia,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys said.
The strongest of these storms tracking across the North Sea into Scandinavia will bring soaking rain and gusty winds that will put a damper on the mild air across northwest Germany.
Occasional bouts of rain will also dampen springtime activities farther east in Berlin, Rostock and Brandenburg.
The season will be a back-and-forth battle of cool and warm air that will have residents feeling like they are on a roller coaster ride.
Early spring snow is not out of the question from Rostock to Berlin and Dresden before giving way to increasing warmth during the months of April and May.

Bavaria is expected to dodge the risk for flooding rain and damaging winds, but will in turn have to worry about building drought.
“The drought conditions that gripped the region last summer could begin to form again by late spring setting the stage for another summer drought,” Roys said.
Drought will not be a concern early in the season as snowmelt from the Alps will feed into area rivers; however, as dry weather prevails for much of the season, river levels will begin to fall to below normal across southern Germany.

Plentiful snow throughout the winter in the German Alps will allow for a prolonged ski season for southern Germany and surrounding countries, giving skiers plenty of opportunities to hit the slopes.
The drier-than-normal weather for much of the season will also provide good conditions for skiers; however, anyone going out on the slopes should always be aware of avalanche risks in the area.
