Snow, Fall Foliage Photos Redux
I'm a little under the weather (pun intended) today, so I'm going to take it easy. Today I just wanted to highlight some more winter and fall photos taken in Colorado last week, in case you missed them. This is a followup to a blog entry I did showcasing fall and winter photos on September 17th.
First, as you can see above, we are starting to see some 2006 fall foliage photos come in, mainly in the northern Rockies, although one of the photos below is from Alabama and we have seen some oddly early spotty fall color here in Pennsylvania since last month. Next, let's talk about more snow in Colorado. Photo Gallery user vaseleco sent in these photos with comments:
This image was captured on September 22, 2006, as a storm was starting to move out of the area. The Salt Lake Valley is depicted with the base of the Wasatch Mountains visible, the peaks are still in the clouds. The snow level has come down to 5,500 feet in this last storm. Last time I checked Alta (a ski resort in the Wasatch) was reporting 10 inches of snow in the past 24 hours from this storm, this comes amid them receiving 11 inches on September 15th - 16th as reported by Accuweather and another several inches on September 20th. We have had three storms, one of the 15th to the 16th, another on the 20th, and this one on the 22nd.

And, last but not least, photographer FLossie Binder sent in this closeup of the snow in Colorado:
