Snow Amounts So Far in the East
UPDATE 4 PM: Here's a summary of the highest snowfall reports (as of 4 PM ET) from our Facebook Fans:
Zach R. from Hillsville, VA: 12" Edward E. from Boone, NC: 12" Jeffrey B. from Snow Hill, MD: 10" Virginia I. from Mountain View, AR: 10" Larry S. from Johnsonville, TN: 6"
Something else the fans are mentioning is the cold temperatures -- much of the mid-Atlantic is in the teens today as the snow is falling, very unusual but this is a very cold air mass pushing down from Canada (in fact that's what kept the snow from getting northwest of Philadelphia. It's also causing the roads to remain snow covered in southern cities such as Greensboro, NC which are used to less snow at higher temperatures where it can melt or at least be treated.
