Photos Show Extreme Weather Changes in Plains!

Yesterday saw one impressive frontal passage, or FROPA as meteorologists say, in the Central Plains. Temperatures that started out in the 80s turned into the teens by nightfall. At 5 PM, temperatures were in the 80s in Texas but below 0 in Nebraska!

Photo Gallery user wildabouthorses (better known as Janet) artfully documented the severe weather change at her house in Claremore, Oklahoma. The first picture below shows her yard thermometer at 80 degrees at 11 AM. Then at 4 PM, the second picture shows 38!

Here are the temperatures across the state at 5 PM:

Then by darkfall, heavy sleet was falling at her house! This morning she has uploaded more pics of ice and sleet, and says "Its a bitter cold 15 degrees with wind chill of minus 1 at sunrise. We have sleet and ice on the driveways and roads causing alot of school closings."
