NYC Snow, Cold Next Week, Lundberg La Nina
I'm unusually busy today... so here are some briefs on the nation's weather.
1. Northwest Flooding. Big, bad and maybe historical. You've seen the videos on TV today. I've uploaded half a dozen of those videos to the Raw Video player at right. I will be quantifying the flooding in historical terms later today.
2. First Significant Snow in NYC. New York City, Philadelphia, and some points west such as us here in State College are set to see our first significant snowfall this weekend. See our Headlines at right for more information or talk about it in the Forums. It will also clip Chicago, Detroit, and get Pittsburgh. It's a clipper, so it's not going to drop a foot of snow in a wide area, but it's a decent storm for many.
3. Northeast Cold Next Week. Extreme cold is coming to the Northeast next week - at least 20 degrees below normal, by far the coldest this winter. I am talking about this on the Forums. This will also affect the Midwest on its way through and eventually the Southeast.
4. Lundberg La Nina.Joe Lundberg (PREMIUM | PRO) wrote a very interesting blog Tuesday on "what you don't know" about this year's La Nina and its effect on the winter weather patterns.
