ORIGINAL BLOG 10/5/2018:
Pennsylvania had at least 13 tornadoes Tuesday, breaking the October Pennsylvania tornado record, making Oct. 2 the fourth-highest tornado day ever in the state and establishing a 2018 number the same as the number of tornadoes in Oklahoma for the year so far. The photos and videos of the twisters and their damage are unique, containing fall foliage colors. Three of the tornadoes were also EF-2 strength.

Only seven EF-2 tornadoes were ever reported in Pennsylvania in October, the most recent was 1992. If you add up all the Pennsylvania October tornadoes, the number is the same (13) as the number that occurred Tuesday. In fact, only two months featured more tornado warnings than the ones issued Tuesday (32).
Here are a few photos from yesterday's damage survey along the Lycoming/Tioga County border near Buttonwood, PA where an EF-2 tornado occurred. With now three tornadoes confirmed for Westmoreland county, we're now up to 13 for Tuesday's outbreak. Unbelievable for October and sadly more still may be added. #wtajwx #pawx #tornado pic.twitter.com/YxBNEqBJoH— Joe Murgo (@JoeMurgo) October 4, 2018
32 tornado warnings issued yesterday in Pennsylvania is a huge outlier for October:— Weather World (@WeatherWorldPSU) October 3, 2018
