Extremely Dry March in the East

It has been extremely dry March in the East. This drought is record-breaking -- you aren't supposed to see this little precipitation in any month in these areas. Tampa, Florida hasn't even received any measurable rain at all! Only one other March in history was this dry in Tampa.

Here is a sampling of drought data from the National Weather Service office in Blacksburg, VA:

MARCH:

ROANOKE AIRPORT: 0.35 INCHES (-3.13 INCHES): DRIEST MARCH EVER
DANVILLE AIRPORT: 0.56 INCHES (-3.29 INCHES): DRIEST MARCH EVER
BLACKSBURG AIRPORT 0.67 INCHES (-2.78 INCHES): DRIEST MARCH EVER

2006:

DANVILLE AIRPORT: 4.36 INCHES (-6.93 INCHES): DRIEST YEAR EVER
