Entire Nation Frigid Sunday
Most of the nation was experiencing unusually cold temperatures for late February on Sunday. The map below, from AccuWeather.com Professional, shows temperatures below 10 degrees (purple) covering much of the nation, as far south as Tennessee and New Mexico. Even Southern California was in the 30s and 40s and was seeing some snow.
TEMPERATURES SUNDAY MORNING
As of 9 a.m., the National Weather Service had already issued record breaking reports in Montana, Colorado, New York, Wyoming, Iowa, Washington and Oregon.
Although temperatuers dipped to -20 F this morning at Big Piney, Wyoming & Butte, Montana, yesterday morning held the coldest temperatures of this outbreak, with Big Piney at -33 and West Yellowstone, Montana at -40. Records were broken Saturday in Nebraska, Colorado, Montana, Iowa, Idaho, and Wyoming.
