Emergency Vehicles - Rip Currents?

As I continue to watch the beach webcam at Wrightsville Beach, NC, the playful scene and laughter is momentarily interrupted by two emergency vehicles speeding past on the beach.

The likely culprit - rip tides. The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a high risk of rip tides today for much of the Carolina coast. Having been caught in a rip tide myself, I can tell you they are no laughing matter.
