East Coast Heat Wave Thermometer Matrix
When we asked for thermometer photos on AccuWeather.com Facebook during the late July heatwave on the East Coast, we got nearly 100 of them. I decided to use Andrea Mosaic to put them together into a matrix using similar colors.
It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, because generally you need hundreds of photos to make a good mosaic. I used Photoshop to make a colorful image with the word "HOT" and adjusted the color gradients to make more sense with the photos (which were heavy on red and yellow for obvious reasons). After several tries, I finally had a decent-looking mosaic:
When viewed at a small size, the word "HOT" is clear, but when viewed at larger sizes, you see a matrix of those fan-submitted photos. You can download the high-resolution version on Facebook.
