Blogitis: Decoration Mania

Here's a pic of the decorations!

As you know, I promise at least one post per day, so from now on I'll explain why I'm offline with a "Blogitis" post the next day).

POSSIBLE CAUSE: DEER SEASON?

Yesterday, of course, was the opening of deer hunting season (or at least my father- and uncle-in-law had better hope so, as they were out yesterday). Side note: We have a deer hunting weather station at the AccuMall if you're into that sort of thing. This important day in Central Pennsylvania is heralded by kids being out of school (don't tell PETA!) and trash men being one day behind all week. But Quakers [JessePedia] don't hunt, so why did I take a day off of blogging?

Well, I spent a lot more time off the computer than expected this Thanksgiving Weekend, buying Christmas presents, spending time with the family and enjoying the heat wave outside (I had 65 degrees yesterday here in Central PA). I took some walks, raked the leaves, and swept the garage, for example.

ACTUAL CAUSE: DECORATING NEW HOUSE

But the big offender was the Christmas Decorating. Ah, tis the season. As you may recall, I typically wait until it's too cold to decorate before I drag out the Christmas boxes. But inspired this year by My New House [JessePedia], I spent the equivalent to the Gross Product of a small third-world country yesterday at Wal-Mart, buying additional lights, wreaths and garlands to go with the arsenal I had left over from last year (uh, what wasn't stolen anyway).

So yesterday was my second day of decorating the outside of the house and Lo, I did not finish so tonight will be my third. Since the new house is in a "planned" neighborhood, I'm trying to keep up with the Jones, who live across the street, 2 houses down and already have their entire yard filled with Christmas cheer. I can't afford the $150 6-foot-tall snowglobe, so I'll fight back with lights. Lots of bright, multi-colored lights. I'll post pictures tonight when I'm done.
