6-Day Radar Animation, Precip Totals
In "That's A Wide Rain Shield," I had offered up a 3-day radar animation showing the large storm that affected the eastern U.S. last week.
This weekend I have added another 3 days to the radar animation to show the second storm which dropped heavy rain here in Central Pennsylvania. The second storm was not as large, but it's interesting that, no sooner than the 1st storm had disappeared off of Maine when thunderstorms across the Gulf Coast formed, starting Storm #2.
According to the NOAA gauge-adjusted precipitation graphic below, over 20 inches of rain has fallen in the last 14 days in some parts of Louisiana and Texas, with over 5 inches in more than a dozen states and amounts over an inch in every state east of the Mississippi.
