Preliminary Snow Forecast
9:45 p.m. Tuesday:
Don't forget about the fan page on Facebook.
Another look at the snow forecast map is below the video, which is too long today, but I hope worthwhile. More bowl picks are below that!
Bowl picks:
So far, I am 3-0 with the weather and 2-2 with the game picks. That's more like it.
Maaco Las Vegas Bowl, Utah vs. Boise State, Wednesday, 8 p.m.
Well, unlike recent years, neither team is getting cheated out of a national championship opportunity this year (rant forthcoming in January on the need for a playoff system) as Boise state lost to Nevada what should have been an easy win for a top 5 team and Utah has 2 losses. However, this is the most interesting matchup yet as both teams are quite good, their records bear that out. Utah, however, should have beaten Notre Dame but got beaten badly. It seems Vegas, in general, likes Utah a lot. I'm not so sure but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt this time. I'm going with Utah, by a touchdown, 35-28. But I think that either way, we're going to get our money's worth out of this one.
I wrote all the above before the game started. You'll have to take my word on that. As of 9:45 p.m., I have no idea how the game is going, but I wish I could have watched!
As for the weather ... well I screwed up again and left this one out last night and before that. That's a shame, this could have been an easy one since it's raining and I knew that two days ago. So, this one won't count in the final standings.
Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, Friday, 8 p.m., Tulsa vs. Hawaii
Hmmm ... Hawaii beat Nevada, why couldn't Boise State? Anyway, I would dismiss Tulsa if it weren't for the fact that they have been pretty hot lately, the Hurricane has been on quite a streak including wins over Notre Dame and Houston. If Tulsa can keep it close, they might well pull this one out. But, I don't think it will be all that close, Hawaii will win this one 35-20.
Every now and then, a front that is running out of momentum manages to limp its way into Hawaii. It looks as though this will happen on Friday. There's no upper-level support and no big Kona Low west of them like the one that spawned a small typhoon that weakened into a tropical storm before passing west of Hawaii earlier this week. So, there won't be any heavy rain Friday around Honolulu but there will be spotty showers and sunshine will be limited. I expect the high to be 78 and for a kickoff temperature of about 75.
