Rain and snow to fall across the Middle East this week
A pair of storms will bring rounds of rain and snow to parts of the Middle East this week.
Significant snowfall is expected across much of eastern Turkey, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Snow will also accumulate across the mountains of northern Iraq and the higher terrain of western and northern Iran.
Travel disruption is likely, and some areas could have road closures for a time during the heaviest snowfall. The heaviest snowfall is expected from Friday into Saturday.

Snowfall through the weekend will total more than 30 cm (12 inches) across the highest terrain of eastern Turkey, Georgia and western Iran.
The highest locations in Lebanon and Syria could get snowfall; however, much of the region can expect rainfall.
The heaviest rain will fall in western Syria, Lebanon, Israel and western Jordan from late Thursday through Friday.
Localized flooding will be possible with the greatest threat in northern Israel, Lebanon and western Syria. Rainfall amounts may exceed 50 mm (2 inches) in the hardest-hit areas.
