Weekly long-range update
The snow/ice storm that impacted the Midwest/Northeast U.S. and eastern Canada was clearly an overachiever. This storm had very strong dynamics, and with a cold, dry high in the way, there was tremendous evaporative cooling that the computer modeling underestimated.
From a personal standpoint, this was some of the hardest snow to shovel last night and this morning here in central Pennsylvania as we had around 25 to 27 cm of snow and some sleet. The snow was like glue and my small snow blower really struggled.
