Updated Weekly Long-Range Model Forecast
Before I get to the long range, it appears that the heaviest rainfall and highest potential for flooding this weekend will be over extreme southeastern Saskatchewan and into southwestern Manitoba as a strengthening storm tracks up into the region. Total rainfall over a 36-hour period could reach 100 mm (4 inches) in some locations as very moist air gets drawn up into the region. The weather will remain cool by August standards into early next week across this region.
Latest update on the weekly long-range forecast model interpretation...
This model continues to support the idea that worst of summer's heat in western Canada has passed as a more west-to-east steering flow takes hold.
